I was born in Cornwall exactly 2 months after the war began. Naturally I remember very little of the early years but in 1944/1945 my family had billetted on them soldiers from the US Infantry 29th Division. I remember one of them very well, I can't remember his name but my mother called him "Van" as he reminded her of Van Johnson the film actor. Is there a way that I can find out who these American soldiers were?
