My father was a member of the crew on HMS Ark Royal when she was sunk in the Med, he then joined the Manchester in Philadelphia and returned to the Med as part of 'H' Force.
The Manchester was also sunk and my father managed to get ashore in North Africa where he was taken prisoner and sent to Laghout Camp and then Gerryville Camp.
Unfortunatly, following an accident at sea in 1970 he developed a brain tumour and died two years later at the age of 72.
However, before he died he managed to write down his experiences in the war, which I am trying to put into a readable form.Because of his illness at the time , his handwriting was very shakey and it is taking me some time to decifer it.
I would like to complete this period of my fathers life and maybe fill in some of the gaps.
I also hope that this will be of interest to others who may have been in these Ships and Camps.
