I was 12 when the war started and was evacuated with Streatham Secondary School from Tooting to Chichester, where I stayed for over 3 years.
I then returned to London where I finished my schooling and worked at wimbledon Technical College until after the war.
Although I missed being called up by one day, after the war I joined the Women's Land Army, and was sent back to the Chichesterwhere I remained until I got married in 1948.
While at Chichester I attended the Chichester High Scool for Girls, but some of the lessons were given in the Bishops Palace.
