myname is peter and i am 44 i am lucky that i never lost a member of my familly during the war my mum was evacuated 4 times from kensington the first time with her sister to chew magna her sister then went back to london to work in the munitions factory eventually my aun met a us soldier my uncle david who had abit of a rough wear just like lots of others. he was hurt in the town of namur in belgium which is where my familly originates from hence my email address dombret being my mothers maiden name. my aunt went accross to the states to live after the war with her new husband sadly she died this year and her son my cousins sent me a boom that his father had written i was reading it today whilst watching the d day services on tv when i realised that my uncle had actually gone ashore on utah beach it hits home then. my mums brother saw sevice in india up till 1946 and my fathers brother in law was a dessert rat this is how i have become interested in the past events and have decided to get my mum to write a piece about her chiuldhood when she gets home
