At Whitehawk School we recently re-opened the schools air raid shelter, known as 'The Trenches'.

Our caretaker Mr Button has worked hard to restore the shelter and put in the old benches and even the old toilet!

We invited old pupils who went to the school during the war and interviewed them about their memories of Whitehawk Primary school, the air raid shelter and what the war was like.

We have put some of the stories onto the 大象传媒 People's War archive so that other people can read about it.
