Who is the bathroom? (English/German)

While visiting Germany during my college days I needed to use the facilities. I popped into the nearest bar and asked, Wer ist die Toilette? To her credit, the bemused German woman only smiled as she directed me to the rear of the room. While seated, I realized my error and cried out to anyone in the nearby stalls, "Oh no! I just asked her who the bathroom is!" I no longer have any trouble remembering that wer means "who" and wo is the word for "where", finally realizing that these words are no cognates for the English.

Good lesson. I always mix up wer with wo too. After your story, Dorothy, I think I will finally remember.
