Undress my mattress

While traveling in Québec as a very young student I was confronted with a hotel bed which had an annoying plastic mattress cover on it. Wishing to have it removed, I pointed to the offending bed and told the housekeeper to take it off. Unfortunately, the only verb I knew for removal of anything was »åé²õ³ó²¹²ú¾±±ô±ô±ð°ù, to undress. Fortunately, she had a good sense of humour ...

The verb enlever, to take off, would have been more appropriate here.
