Trainspotting in Germany
I remember having to write an essay on a German book I once read, and having to talk about two characters who spent the entire time sitting on a bench watching trains ... after much searching of dictionaries in an attempt to find a word for "trainspotting", I finally came up with Das Hobby, das darin besteht, verschiedene Zugtypen zu sehen (literally "The hobby which involves seeing many types of train") - I've never forgotten that to this day!
