William Topaz McGonagall was, in his own mind, the second best poet Britain ever produced and is certainly Dundee’s most famous exponent of the written word. Whatever may be said about the quality of work that came from Dundee’s renowned son, one charge that may never be levelled against the interminable wordsmith is that he didn’t put his all into his art.
