Transcript

I remember on St. Patrick’s Day, our biggest thrill was having an emerald green blouse going into the mill. We’d been in this club for green blouses and achieved our point. And there was this spinner used to slag us, she was a protestant spinner and she was humorous , she took it in good heart, anything we said you know, but she was the one person we were eager to get to doff with all these green blouses on. So the minute her frame became free, we all walked up to Lily Forbe`s frame , you know , to show off the green blouses. And she clapped us all on the shoulder and said God bless you, it’s the highest colour in the Orange Lodge!

Such a day as St Patrick`s day was. We all wore black slips and green blouses and the whole place was in a muck the whole day because we were running to help the spinners, the doffers, the layers, the half of them was drunk and then the half of them had to be sent home.
