Spirit of Friendship Festival
Education

Education

The Games’ message of celebration and community will reach 33,000 schools in the UK through a special programme of activities and events organised by the Commonwealth Institute and the Youth Sport Trust.

Children will take part in themed projects, competitions and festivals with a Commonwealth flavour and will be given the opportunity to showcase their talents in a variety of ways.

See our Events Diary for some selected Spirit of Friendship Festival happenings.

Perhaps the most exciting aspect of this strand of the Spirit of Friendship Festival is the Mini Commonwealth Games in June. Hundreds of schools are expected to take part nationwide.

Young people aged 14-19 will be encouraged to organise festivals of sports or dance with a Commonwealth theme for local primary school children, encouraging a whole new generation of sports leaders.

The Spirit of Friendship Festival will run from 11 March - 10 August 2002. Find out how you can be a part of it by emailing festival@manchester2002.co.uk.
