Been

than by taking your board down to Stockport Sk8 park on 04 Jan for
the Hangover Classic?

Bones skatepark in Stockport |

I have
organised this competition for three reasons.
Firstly to get the " new skool skaters" into vertical
ramp skating and bowl skating which is pretty different from street
skateboarding.
Stockport
Sk8 Park: info |
Bones
Skatepark is a fully indoor ply playground split onto two seperate
levels:
Upstairs:
Beginners Section: 3 - 4ft quarters, flat banks, driveways
with various rails. Also new mini ramp added!! 3ft high, 16ft
wide
Street
Section: Spine going into quarters. Wallride with quarters
either end with flatbank in middle. Transition and flatbank
driveways with ledge and rail. Another quarter and large flatbank
Downstairs:
Kidney bowl - 4ft small section into 8ft deep. Driveway with
grind box, 3ft quarters, steps, grind rails and flatbanks.
9ft quarter into large jumpbox into vert wall. Also 24ft wide,

Secondly,
to get together a selection of the country's oldest and newest vert
skaters under one roof. Some of these guys have skated non stop
for over 25 years!! Some barely a year. They all have one thing
in common. A love of Vert and Bowl riding. You will experience many
different styles of skating in Stockport that day and it will be
well worths seeing.
Thirdly,
its giving me a focus after leaving my job as an ambulance man in
Northern Ireland and spending a year travelling the world surfing.
For
my part i have been involved in Skating since the 70s i then went
on to become British BMX freestlye champion in '84 winning a televised
event called Bmx Beat and making a series of shows for "TV
AM" the wide awake club.
I then became a sponsored vertical ramp skater traveliing the world
competing and doing demos. I have spent the last 14 years surfing
in various places around the globe. I still skate and ride nearly
every day and work part time at the moment in Alans sk8 and bike
shop in Wigan. Till i figure out a masterplan!
Like a lot of the skaters who will turn up on the 4th January, I
have been involved in these sports long before the title "extreme"
sports came about.
I am always a little dubious of that name because it lumps skating,
bmx and surfing in with hang gliding, base jumping mountain biking
etc etc.
The Hangover Classic is on Sunday 04 Jan 2004 @ 'Bones' skatepark,
Canal St, Stockport
