| | At
the Loch of Strathbeg near Peterhead in Aberdeenshire, 80,000 Pink footed Geese
are in residence in autumn. That's a quarter of the world's population!
The
reason why they are in Strathbeg is because this is the most northerly, and the
first, stopping off point for them on their journey south from Iceland and Greenland.
| | | The River Tweed and its tributaries are one of the most famous
salmon spots in the British Isles. | | | - Slapton Ley is the largest natural lake
in south west Britain. It's a great place for marine life and mammals.
| "Water,
they say, is the very essence of life. We're dipping into some top freshwater
habitats - lakes, lochs and rivers that you should explore this autumn... 听 "In
the autumn one of THE true natural spectacles takes place - the salmon leap! And
there's also some great mammal and marine life to look out for. So get yourself
down to the waterside." |
