The social and environmental impact of "fast fashion" is to come under scrutiny by MPs as part of efforts to make the industry sustainable.

Fashion is having a "huge" environmental impact, requiring toxic chemicals and producing climate-changing emissions, Environmental Audit Committee chairwoman and Wakefield Labour MP Mary Creagh has said.

The committee's inquiry will examine the carbon, resource use and water footprint of clothing throughout its life-cycle and will look at how clothes can be recycled and waste and pollution reduced:

Police are asking for the public's help to find Giedrius Liulys, who has gone missing from Rotherham.

Mr Liulys, from East Dene, has not been seen since 22:30 on Thursday 21 June.

Henconner Lane Bridge (above) in Bramley and Valley Farm Bridge in Rothwell will both have work undertaken to replace expansion joints.

The work at Henconner Lane will take place from 07:00 to 18:00 on both days.

On Saturday, a full closure of the southbound carriageway will be in place where Henconner Lane crosses the Stanningley Bypass. The following day the northbound carriageway will be closed.

The works are expected to be completed by 18:00 each day, but the closure order can remain in place to allow the contractor to work later should it be needed.

The work at Valley Farm Bridge will take place on three consecutive nights where the A1 Wakefield Road crosses the A639 between 20:00 and 05:00.

To allow the work to be undertaken, the A61 will be closed during these hours with a signed diversion in place.

This will only impact southbound traffic, northbound A61 traffic will be unaffected.

A bag containing what police believe are stolen items of jewellery and coins has been found in a bush in the Herringthorpe area of Rotherham.

They were found last month at the junction of Shenstone Road and Chatterton Drive.

The jewellery is thought to have been stolen and police want to get the items back to their rightful owners.

Penistone's landmark market barn could be fully closed at night amid fears that young people could cause serious damage there, .

The oak-structured building has become a magnet for young people, with them being blamed for damage and litter despite the installation of CCTV.

Now, it seems open access to the building could come to an end following years of wrangling between Barnsley Council and Penistone Town Council.
