Fire crews remain at the scene of a major blaze at a factory in Wakefield at the weekend.

About 20 firefighters are still damping down at the Speedibake factory, close to Westgate Retail Park.

The fire started at about 13:30 on Saturday and at its height was tackled by about 140 firefighters.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service initially warned of the potential for asbestos in the smoke plume, but later confirmed the substance was not present in the section of building hit by the blaze.

Demolition of the site is expected to begin later and will continue over the coming days, according to the fire service.

Local residents are being warned they may notice an increase of smoke and dust in the area.

Students at the University of York are being told to go about their business as usual as they're given health and hygiene advice following a student being diagnosed with coronavirus.

A Chinese student from the university and their relative were confirmed last week as the first two cases of the virus in the UK.

They're being treated at a specialist infectious diseases unit at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.

Joan Concannon, one of the directors at the university, says: "We've reprinted posters giving the latest advice and guidance.

"We're focusing on providing a lot of advice about sanitation and hygiene factors.

"We're also posting regularly any updates on travel arrangements from people people coming in from China, ensuring people are aware of all of the latest advice."

Harry Clay, from student newspaper York Vision, said most students were carrying on as normal.

"Obviously, there was a worry initially, as you don't know whether or not they have been on campus.

"But, on the whole, students don't seems to be stopping what they are doing," he said.

Motorists in Sheffield and Birmingham have been confronted by a ´óÏó´«Ã½ reporter who secretly filmed them buying red diesel to use in their own cars.

It's illegal for regular drivers to use the fuel, which is about 50p cheaper than a litre of normal diesel.

HM Revenue and Customs estimates that the crime costs the UK £100m a year in lost tax revenue.

A man has been arrested by detectives investigating an armed robbery at a jewellers store in Leeds last week.

The man was arrested in an armed operation at an address in Leeds in the early hours of this morning, according to police.

The arrest is in connection with a robbery at Phillip Stoner The Jeweller, in County Arcade on Briggate, on Wednesday 29 January.

The man remains in custody and inquiries are ongoing, police say.

Students at the University of York are due to be given updated health and hygiene advice today as it continues to reassure people over the coronavirus outbreak.

A Chinese student from the university and their relative were confirmed as the first two cases of the virus in the UK last week.

They continue to be treated at a specialist infectious diseases unit at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.

The two, whose diagnosis was announced on Friday, were taken to hospital from Staycity Aparthotel on York's Paragon Street, with witnesses reporting seeing paramedics in "white quarantine suits".

Sharon Stoltz, City of York Council's director of health, said: "The risk to people in York remains very low."

University leaders say its coronavirus incident response team is meeting regularly and is working with Public Health England.

Public Health England said it was making good progress tracing people who had come into close contact with the two people.
