Khalid was born in Karachi, Pakistan. He has lived in the Meadows since 1969.

Musically he has his finger in many pies. He works part-time as co-ordinator and presenter for Dawn FM (formerly Radio Faza).

Towards the end of 2007 he released two new tracks, a 12" single, Zalim Maar Daala, and a vocal track on the album Island Noise that gained several plays on 大象传媒 Radio 1 (Pheli Nazir).

In February 2008 he's about to reach a new audience of potentially millions. He's going to present the show Sur Taal (Rhythm Beat) every Wednesday on Sky 817. It'll be broadcast to 160 countries at 9.30 pm UK time.

The beginnings

His band is called First Impression.

"The reason I came up with this name is that I know for a fact that once we get onto the stage people are attracted to us, and the name lasts in people鈥檚 minds."

The band consists mainly of musicians from the Nottingham area. Khalid is the vocal talent of the group and sings in Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi.

Some of his tracks are Bollywood style duets, performed with a female singer.

He stated that the pinnacle of his career would be to sing at least one soundtrack in a Bollywood movie, to have his name on the credits and to get recognition all over the world.

He is currently pushing his idea for a new television programme. A Bollywood Pop Idol competition where the winner would get to sing in the next big Bollywood film.

Khalid has given many performances and has done shows all over England and Scotland. He has won a trophy and was interviewed about his music on TV (Asian Net, a Cable channel).

Khalid has also made an album that he recorded in Karachi in November of 2002.

He is currently working on recording a new CD with a friend who has a studio in Bradford.

He stated that he wants to record his new tracks in the UK in order to get a good mix of Eastern and Western styles. His band is due to give a performance at a festival in July 2003.
