大象传媒 wins top architecture accolade
The
大象传媒 has been voted the winner in the RIBA Journal's survey of the
architectural profession's "Top 50 clients" for aspiring
to the highest possible quality of design in its redevelopment programme
across the UK.
The
September issue of the leading architecture monthly lists 50 clients
chosen from a wide variety of organisations, from major developers
to small community organisations.
The
judges, working from a longlist suggested by architectural practices,
commented that the 大象传媒 has shown "persistence and resilience"
in taking forward its Broadcasting House redevelopment, which won
planning permission in July 2002.
They
were also impressed with the corporation's boldness in a year when
it has announced a major redevelopment programme for its estate
and created an innovative property partnership with Land Securities
Trillium.
John Smith, the 大象传媒's Director of Finance, Property and Business
Affairs, said: "We are thrilled to have been named top client
by RIBA Journal.
"As
a leading cultural organisation we are utterly committed to commissioning
great architecture, which we believe not only inspires the people
who work for us but also helps us encourage licence payers and audiences
to come and see what we do.
"This
recognition by the architectural profession will be a great inspiration
to the team here."
The
大象传媒 has put property right at the heart of its strategy, recognising
that flexible, economical, environmentally efficient and comfortable
buildings are essential to the corporation's success in the new
digital world.
Leading
British architectural practices have secured the first four major
projects of the programme: MacCormac Jamieson Pritchard at the 大象传媒's
Broadcasting House site; Allies and Morrison at White City; David
Chipperfield at Pacific Quay, Glasgow; and Building Design Partnership
at the Mailbox, Birmingham.
