Sinchronicity听

Daniel Percival as Jase, Jemima Rooper as Fi and Paul Chequer as Nathan

Sinchronicity - brand new drama that poses the question "What if?"

Introduction

Sinchronicity - from Sunday, July 16, 10.00pm - is a brand new six-part drama for 大象传媒 THREE.

Sinchronicity is about the crucial role chance and coincidence play in our lives.

The high-octane, party-fuelled stories hinge on tangential and peripheral moments that become pivotal in the lives of a group of strangers searching for love in the dating jungle of the city.

This is the city as you've never experienced it before, seen through the eyes of Nathan, the world's most unreliable narrator. Nathan is an instantly likeable charmer, with a bizarre career and a frankly bonkers love life.

As Nathan (Paul Chequer) lurches from catastrophe to disaster a whole raft of characters are caught up in his tangled web.

There's Jase (Daniel Percival), his hedonistic childhood friend; Peggy Simmons (Camille Codouri), Nathan's dirty-talking porn baroness of a boss; Fabian (John Sheahan), a pre-op transsexual who becomes an unlikely friend and confidante; Mani (Navin Chowdhry), a hedonistic doctor who will do almost anything for the next thrill; and there's Fi (Jemima Rooper) - a no nonsense, up-for-a-laugh chef who has absolutely no idea she's the love of Nathan's life.

Every week Sinchronicity will use innovative, non-linear story-telling to deliver a fun-filled rollercoaster of sexploits and romantic conundrums, driven by the fickle twists of fate and the question that haunts us all - What if?'

Sinchronicity is produced by Julian Murphy and Johnny Capps, the team behind award-winning dramas As If, Hex and Sugar Rush and is written by Julian Jones (As If, Hex) and Lucy Watkins (Hex, Sugar Rush).

Key cast comprises a mix of established names and new upcoming talent.

Jemima Rooper (Kinky Boots, Hex and As If) plays Fi, Paul Chequer (Tea with Mussolini and As If) plays Nathan, Daniel Percival (Vital Signs and Van Wilder 2) plays Jase and Camille Coduri (Doctor Who and Pickles) stars as Peggy.

Shazney is played by Shivani Ghai, Shazney's boyfriend by Mark Smith, Niamh by Lucia Giannecchini, Fabian by John Sheahan and Curtis by Michael Claff.

A 大象传媒 Wales/Shine co-production for 大象传媒 THREE, the executive producers are Julian Murphy and Johnny Capps for Shine, and Julie Gardner and Bethan Jones for 大象传媒 Wales. Sinchronicity is directed by Brian Grant and Philip John.

An introduction to Sinchronicity by the executive producer Johnny Capps

"Julian Jones, Julian Murphy and myself were interested in creating a show that looked at how chance and coincidence rule our lives more than we'd like to think.

"We liked the idea of posing the question 'What if?' and we were intrigued to see if we could tell stories that became pivotal moments in our characters' lives.

"We were very keen to have a quirky lead character who spoke to camera, leading the audience through the non-linear narrative.

"We all liked the idea that the narrator's view of the world should be unreliable and comic. And Nathan was born! Nathan is an instantly likeable charmer.

"Sinchronicity was an incredibly hard show to cast because the whole story spins around the character of Nathan. When people first read the script they misunderstood the character of Nathan.

"So it became really important that we found an actor who could get away with being supposedly politically incorrect, with charm and humour. Paul Chequer was always in the back of my mind; he puts in a great performance.

"As it is a comedy drama about a love triangle, it was really important that there was strong chemistry onscreen between Fi and Nathan. We knew Jemima would be good because the chemistry between her and Paul in As If was so strong. We were right - she was great, just right for the part.

"Sinchronicity is different from other dramas on television today because of the strong narrative devices that we use. We have strived to tell stories about everyday life and love, hopefully with a bit of a black comic twist."
