More listeners tune in to Radio Cleveland

The number of people tuning in to ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Cleveland continues to grow, according to the latest Rajar (Radio Joint Audience Research Ltd) figures released today.

Around 139,000 people now tune in to Radio Cleveland every week, an increase of 35,000 listeners over the last year. These are the station's highest figures for over two and a half years.

According to the official radio statistics people are also tuning in for longer. Listeners stay tuned to Radio Cleveland for 10.5 hours a week – over 30 minutes more than just three months ago.

The figures mean that the station's share of the market is the best for over five years.

Managing Editor, Matthew Barraclough, says: "This is an exciting time for the station. We've just moved into our new state-of-the art studios and Open Centre and it's great to have so many more people coming in to contribute to our output and enjoy the great mix of music and conversation.

"We're also changing our name to ´óÏó´«Ã½ Tees later this year which we think better reflects the audience we serve and how they identify with our part of the world. We're passionate about this area and look forward to making radio that's essential listening for the 21st century."

Today's Rajar figures also show that Radio Cleveland has an average of 73,000 listeners a day – an increase of 16,000 listeners compared with this time last year.
