Jessie quicksteps out of Strictly Come Dancing
|
It was ladies' night tonight (Sunday 12 October) as actress Jessie Wallace was voted off ´óÏó´«Ã½ One's Strictly Come Dancing – the second female celebrity to leave the competition.
Ìý
After performing a quickstep, the combination of the viewer votes and judges' scores left Jessie and her partner Darren Bennett in the bottom two with Heather Small and Brian Fortuna.
Ìý
Both couples had to perform a second time for the judges' deciding vote.
Ìý
Of Jessie and Darren's dance the judges said –
Ìý
Arlene Phillips: "This dance needs a sporty delivery and sometimes you got that and you looked like you were on the dance floor and other times you looked like you were on the football field. When you were doing those two kicks – it was like 'help, help' – that was not good. You have got to make sure that you are ruling your shoes and not your shoes ruling your feet."
Score: 5.
Ìý
Len Goodman: "I'm going to give you a bit of advice now and this is it: If your bosom is pushed against the man's body then your posture is wrong and that's what was happening. Your bosom was pushing on him and that made your bottom stick out – you've got to tuck that under and get your bosom away from Darren."
Score: 5.
Ìý
Bruno Tonioli: "To carry on from what they said, if you get that wrong then everything else doesn't look right. It has a casual and rough look which is not correct for the quickstep which is all elegant and light and ease of movement – it didn't happen. Once your posture goes everything else falls to pieces. But you smiled and that was good." Score: 6.
Ìý
Craig Revel Horwood: "I have to agree with the rest of the panel – not your finest hour sadly."
Score: 3.
Ìý
The judges gave them a total of 19 out of 40 for their performance.
Ìý
After the dance-off, Heather and Brian were saved by Craig, Arlene and Bruno who all voted for them to stay in the competition, leaving head judge Len to comment on the couples rather than vote.
Ìý
Len said: "I totally disagreed. I thought Jessie and Darren improved the most during that performance. Both couples made mistakes, but my vote was with them."
Ìý
After Jessie and Darren's elimination, Jessie said: "I wish it could've been longer but that's the game. I've had a wicked time, Darren's brilliant."
Ìý
On Saturday the boys performed a group rueda to Tim Pop Con Birdland.
Ìý
When asked who stood out and caught their eye and who struggled, the judges said –
Ìý
Arlene: "Girls, thank you, you really pushed John [Sergeant]
around! And Mark [Foster] you started off with a shimmy that was so good and then you just walked around, you need to keep the shimmy standard."
Ìý
Bruno: "For most of you it was a wheel with a slow puncture I would say! There were two top dogs, but the rest were running around like lazy puppies. You need to raise your game because next week it's going to be ruff."
Ìý
Craig: "John did steal my focus occasionally. A little bit of conquering to do there, darling, the peripheral vision was working overtime!"
Ìý
Len: "I cast a glance to all of them but I have to say that Tom [Chambers] and Austin [Healey] really stood out and I'm really concerned for the other five guys. Good luck to you but don't hold your breath."
Ìý
The Sunday results show saw Simply Red perform their smash hit single Something Got Me Started.
Ìý
Next week the boys and girls will compete together for the first time to stay in the competition.
