The Big Silence, a new three-part series, follows five people who have taken time out of their daily lives in an attempt to understand just why silence is so elusive and hard to attain in modern-day society.
Carrie, David, Helen, Jon and Trish all have modern, high-pressured jobs in various demanding trades: business, teaching, PR, media and hospitality. They live hectic lives surrounded by constant white noise – internet, text, mobile phone, conference-calling and multi-media. All of them are aware of something profoundly missing from their lifestyles and are looking for an opportunity to find a more spiritual dimension to their lives.
Guiding the volunteers on their spiritual journey is Abbot Christopher Jamison of Worth Abbey in West Sussex, whom many viewers will remember from popular ´óÏó´«Ã½ Two series The Monastery.
As a Benedictine monk, Christopher is steeped in the Catholic tradition of the contemplative life, but he is convinced that everyone in the "real" world outside the monastery can also benefit from sustained, regular periods of silence.

Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly present as the glitzy couples dance for the second time in the celebrity dancing competition. Having seen each other perform for the first time last week, the contest is sure to start heating up as they take on another brand new dance – either the quickstep or a rumba.
On their third outing, the celebrities and their pro partners need to make sure they have listened to the judges' comments and taken them on board to truly impress. Who will stand out and shine on the dance floor and who will need a lot more practice? Tomorrow's results show will reveal who will be leaving the competition and who will stay to dance another week.

It's the day of the memorial for the college shooting and Jeff and Simone finally face their demons in a bid to come to terms with what happened, as the medical drama continues.
Jordan, Adam and Henry attend the memorial. Left alone for the day, Ruth is determined to prove she is adept at managing the department. When Devlan, the college gunman, is brought into the ED from prison, Ruth takes full responsibility for his treatment and orders that his handcuffs be removed. However, Ruth struggles to deal with him as he's not sorry for what he did and refuses to cooperate. Can Ruth get to the bottom of why he did what he did?
Kirsty is convinced that Simone is suffering from hysterical paralysis so wants to unlock her memories to help her recover the use of her legs. Against all orders, she takes Simone to the memorial. Simone is traumatised by the small amount she can remember and has to be taken back to the ED where she is confronted with Devlan. Distraught on hearing Devlan's voice, she manages to find the strength to stand up and run away. But will she finally recall what has happened?
Jeff is struggling to confront what happened on the day of the shooting. Dixie does her best to help him open up to her. Will Jeff finally admit to Dixie that his actions weren't as heroic as they were made out to be?
Meanwhile, Adam and Kirsty go the pub and their attraction to one another is undeniable. But waiting at home for Kirsty is controlling husband Warren...

Russell Howard is back for a third series of Russell Howard's Good News on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Three. The previous series was the channel's most successful entertainment show – pulling in over three million viewers a week – and was the most-requested ´óÏó´«Ã½ Three programme on ´óÏó´«Ã½ iPlayer while on air.
As ever, the show is lively, topical and entertaining – with Russell giving his take on some of the key stories of the week as well as highlighting some of the more overlooked items that have caught his eye during his forensic trawl through newspapers, websites, TV and radio shows. Jennie Gow introduces live coverage of the Australian MotoGP from Phillip Island.
Aussie rider Casey Stoner will be looking for a fourth consecutive win at the circuit. Last year's race saw the Ducati star hold off Valentino Rossi and Dani Pedrosa, who finished second and third respectively. However, it was a miserable day for Spanish star Jorge Lorenzo, who crashed out before the first corner after tangling with Nicky Hayden.
Commentary comes from Steve Parrish and Charlie Cox.

Tess Daley and Claudia Winkleman are back with the combined results of last night's public vote and judges' scores. After the first elimination last week, the remaining 13 couples are hoping that they won't be the unlucky ones heading home tonight.

Dave's emotions are in turmoil after his kiss with Sarah, as Mick Ford's touching yet humorous drama series about finding love after heartbreak continues.
Confused, Dave tries to avoid Sarah when he drops youngest daughter Evie off at school, but at the same time he's also desperate to see her again. Eventually they're forced to meet at Evie's parents' evening. After a heart to heart, they agree that the kiss was an understandable response to their emotions over Rita, and decide to continue as normal.
In an attempt to be supportive, Dave vows to track down Lucy's real dad but information is scant. He knows Rita fell pregnant at university so starts reading her diaries looking for clues. With a little help from Sarah, he tracks down a man called Stuart who claims to know Rita from her university days.
Later, Dave meets up with Stuart and is shocked when Stuart reveals he knew all along he had a child with Rita and she'd secretly kept in touch with him over the years, sending him pictures of Lucy. Dave is devastated by Rita's deceit and begins to question the memory of the woman he loved.
Meanwhile, Dave's children are struggling in their own unique ways. Tanya, never the greatest employee, messes up an important set of photos and tries to hide them from her father, afraid he'll be disappointed in her; and Ewan, desperate for attention, deliberately harms himself but pretends it's a football accident.
In need of a quiet evening, Dave arranges for all the kids to stay elsewhere that night, inviting Sarah over for some company.
But before Sarah arrives, he is confronted by ex-wife Michelle who brings home a poorly Evie, storming out after giving Dave a piece of her mind.
Later, with Evie sound asleep, Dave and Sarah's feelings get the better of them and before they know it, they're in bed. But Evie wakes up and comes to the bedroom door. Sarah and Dave are horrified, uncertain of what Evie saw and how she'll react...

Colin Murray introduces highlights of the day's Premier League games, including the match between Everton and Liverpool. Merseyside derbies are usually fast and frenetic affairs, with the last 11 league games producing 19 red cards. Liverpool's Sotirios Kyrgiakos and Everton's Marouane Fellaini were both dismissed when the sides last met before Dirk Kuyt grabbed the winner for the Reds.
The day's other game sees newly promoted Blackpool host Manchester City at Bloomfield Road. While City have spent a fortune in the hope of becoming a Premier League force, Ian Holloway guided Blackpool to promotion from the Championship on a shoestring budget. Most pundits tipped the Tangerines to struggle before the start of the season, but there have been some encouraging signs from Holloway's side so far.

In a move to bring peace to Palestine and Israel, the American President is en route to London to chair secret talks between peace negotiators from both countries, as the tense spy drama continues. Beth Bailey and Dimitri Levendis go undercover as Home Office liaison officers at the talks, while the rest of Section D are tasked with ensuring nothing will jeopardise the long-awaited occasion.
Preparations appear to be going smoothly until a journalist threatens to run the story. Ruth Evershed convinces her not to print it but the implications are clear: someone does not want the peace talks to go ahead. The team frantically search for the source of the leak and Tariq Masood goes to work on tracing calls made to the journalist.
Lucas North picks up the trail and makes several discoveries which indicate the culprit has only one agenda – assassination. With the murder of the US President a very real threat, Section D must find the suspect before they are faced with an international scandal of unimaginable proportions.
With time running out, Harry Pearce and his team are put under immense pressure to locate the sniper and ensure the President is not put at risk. As events unfold it becomes clear that the real threat to the President is much closer than anyone had realised.

Mark Gatiss – star of the League Of Gentlemen, writer of Doctor Who and Sherlock, and horror fan – continues his celebration of horror cinema.
In this episode Mark tells the stories behind the films of the Fifties and Sixties, which fired his lifelong enthusiasm for horror when he first saw them on TV as a child.
These mainly British pictures were dominated by the legendary Hammer Films, which rewrote the horror rulebook with a revolutionary infusion of sex and full-colour gore – all produced in the English Home Counties. Mark explains just what made these films so special.
He meets key Hammer figures to find out why their Frankenstein and Dracula films conquered the world, making international stars of Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing. He looks at the new boom in horror that followed in Hammer's wake, talking to Barbara Steele, star of the ravishing Italian film Black Sunday, and influential American producer Roger Corman, creator of a series of disturbing and dreamlike Edgar Allan Poe films.
While an excessive emphasis on sex helped fuel Hammer's decline after the late Sixties, Mark recounts how other British horror films flourished, including the portmanteau films of Amicus Productions, which were structured around sequences of short stories, and the intriguing cycle of "folk horror" films set in the British countryside and drawing on paganism and folklore – such as The Wicker Man and Mark's personal favourite, Blood On Satan's Claw.
Mark also talks to actors Barbara Shelley and David Warner about their horror appearances, makes a pilgrimage to Whitstable, home of Peter Cushing, and finds out why Dracula's bedroom activities got the British censor steamed up.

Music sensations Zak, Tang, Panzee and Drum are back to get young viewers jumping, swaying and trilling to music from the world over in ZingZillas. With influences spanning the globe from soul to samba and big band to bhangra, the talented primates live to create fantastic music from their island paradise – with a little help from mentor DJ Loose and their very special musical guests.
Gorilla and lead singer Zak provides vocals, while musical genius and lead guitarist Tang the orang-utan creates the most wonderful compositions. The band is styled by chimpanzee bass guitarist and keyboard player Panzee; and monkey percussionist Drum always lays down a great beat.
In each episode, these island entertainers are joined by special guests from the world of music. Ranging from a full concert orchestra to a lone saxophonist, the guests help the ZingZillas incorporate their sounds into the pulsating Big Zing as they celebrate musical styles from around the world.
In Monday's episode, the ZingZillas are joined by well-known Russian Theremin player Lydia Kavina. Could the distinctive tones of the Theremin be just what the team are looking for to complete Super Zak's super hero Big Zing?
On Tuesday the Swingle Singers take centre stage as they show the ZingZillas how to make sounds with their mouths and voices. But the only sound Panzee can seem to make is a fit of the giggles!
On Wednesday the ZingZillas collect bamboo to make panpipes and are joined for the Big Zing by Andean pipers Kausery; Thursday is spring cleaning day and the Big Byrds have tidied away Drum's drums. Luckily Cajun band Petit Et La Gros are in the glade to pick up the beat with a Cajun triangle.
And on Friday the ZingZillas put on a special show for Todd's Aunty Dot with the help of rock band The BMQ, tenor saxophone James Knight, bhangra performers Jugnu Bhangra and Hammond organist Dr Lonnie Smith.

Aquatic adventurers Captain Barnacles Bear, Lieutenant Kwazii Cat and Medic Peso Penguin continue to take viewers on an exciting voyage of discovery through the world's oceans as they patrol the seas and have thrilling adventures underwater in The Octonauts. Stationed in their impressive home base, the Octopod, the Octonauts dive into action whenever there is trouble underwater, using their fleet of aquatic vehicles to rescue sea creatures, explore new underwater worlds and triumphantly save the oceans from danger – all in a day's rather wet work.
There's an explosive start on Monday when Captain Barnacles Bear and the team must evacuate sea creatures before an underwater volcano erupts. But there's one creature that won't budge: a slow-moving, gelatinous Blobfish.
On Tuesday the Octonauts follow an old map to what Kwazii believes is treasure guarded by a sea monster, but instead they meet a playful Octopus with all kinds of surprising abilities.
On Wednesday the Octonauts find an unusual Sea Star on the beach and search the ocean from top to bottom (literally) to help find its home.
On Thursday the team helps out an Albino Humpback Whale with a nasty case of sunburn.
Finally, on Friday the Gup-B goes missing and the Octonauts journey into a mysterious kelp forest, meeting strange and interesting creatures along the way.
The Octonauts is based on the richly imaginative books by design team Meomi. Produced in HD, it combines classic team adventure with dazzling CGI animation to transport children to a world they don't normally visit ... deep under the ocean.

When an old enemy, Androvax the Veil, returns to Earth, the gang face a dilemma, as the alien-busting adventure series continues. Should they trust him – or does the legendary Vault hold an even greater terror?
A second threat then arises when android guardians threaten to destroy anyone who uncovers their secrets.
As the battle between Sarah Jane, Androvax and the androids reaches its climax, Rani has to save her own mother from being caught in the crossfire. But, as the Vault opens, with the destiny of the entire Veil species at stake, is it too late to save anyone?
Elisabeth Sladen stars as Sarah Jane Smith alongside Tommy Knight as Luke, Daniel Anthony as Clyde, Anjil Mohindra as Rani Chandra, Mina Anwar as Gita Chandra and Mark Goldthorp as Androvax.

The fiendish new live-action comedy series follows the lives of the Carlson family. Nick, Kate and their children Eddie and Angela have recently relocated from Australia to a smart townhouse in the UK. It has everything they could wish for in a new home; original features, plenty of rooms and a fabulous kitchen. Even more incredibly it was on the market at a knock-down price. Some might say it was a giveaway. So what's the catch? Well... there are monsters in the basement!
But they're not the kind of monsters that people should be afraid of. Fiend, Haggis and Norman might look a bit odd; they might cause mess and mayhem; they might have questionable personal hygiene issues – but the reality is they just want to be loved and become part of the family.
For Angela, they're the worst house guests a teenage girl could have. For Kate, they're another three kids to juggle with her working life. For highly strung Nick they are a constant source of chaos and stress. But for Eddie, they're the best friends a 10-year-old boy could have.
This week Eddie panics about his impending school report and tries to stop the post; Haggis gets depressed and needs a father figure so Nick steps into the role; the monsters try to revive their singing group; and Eddie teaches the monsters about lying and soon regrets his decision.
Nick is played by Felix Williamson, Kate by Lauren Clair, Eddie by Macauley Keeper and Angela by Ivy Latimer. The Monster Puppets were created by Jim Henson's Creature Shop UK.

A night in the cells leads to meltdowns, revelations and some unlikely bonding for Janine, Pat and Stacey, in tonight's visit to Walford.
Meanwhile, a terrified Ryan is left alone with Lily for the first time – will his paternal instincts finally kick in?

Connie feels on top of her game but then a stranger in her office turns out to be the new joint director of surgery, Henrik Hanssen, as the medical drama continues. However, Connie is defiant – she doesn't do job share!
Setting out to make sure Hanssen knows who is top dog, she outlines her visionary presentation to the Board. But she is humiliated when Hanssen publicly dismisses her plans. And when Connie watches from the wings as Hanssen gathers the hospital together, telling them that there will be tough times ahead, she realises a new King of Holby has been born.
Joseph can't help but feel compassion for the grieving, pregnant Faye and dismisses Jac's cynical view of her. But Joseph can't ignore Faye's capacity for manipulation and is shocked when she tells him Linden is the father of her child. Reeling from this lie, Joseph knows he cannot trust Faye and decides to treat her with kid gloves.
Social pariah Michael finds it hard to keep his chin up when the Spence charm doesn't work on Hanssen. Vowing not to be beaten, Michael sets his sights on selling himself as the saviour of the hospital via Holby Care. But Hanssen has a different plan for him.

Frankie tries to unravel the mystery of her past; fate offers Cat a second chance with Sam; and Tess learns new love Lou isn't ready to go public about their relationship as the seductive new relationship drama continues.
Emotions run high at the funeral of Frankie's Aunt Carol. Treated like an outsider by her Uncle Cameron, Frankie causes a scene. And when her cousin Karen explains Carol sent Frankie's childhood photo album to someone before she died, Frankie is left confused.
Cat regrets her decision to accompany Frankie to the funeral and leaves the wake feeling humiliated, only to fall victim to a teenage thief who snatches her mobile.
When Cat gives chase, she ends up being arrested for assault and is further embarrassed when she comes face-to-face with Sam at the police station. But every cloud has a silver lining and the encounter leads to a second chance with Sam.
An excited Tess is over the moon after Lou gets her a job as TV runner – regular money and the chance to see more of the woman of her dreams. But it soon becomes clear that Lou wants to keep their relationship hidden.
To try and coax Lou out of the closet, Tess asks her over for dinner with Cat and Ed. Much to Ed's disgust, Tess goes to great lengths to impress but it's a wasted effort as Lou cancels at the last minute.
On hearing that Cat has another date with Sam, a jealous Frankie turns up at her door. But she is snubbed, so Frankie decides to spend some time alone – until her head is turned by an alluring stranger, Sadie, shoplifting in a bookstore. Sadie knows she's been spotted and thinks Frankie will turn her in, but she's got other plans.
A night of seduction follows at Jay's flat but afterwards Frankie makes her feelings clear – she'd like Sadie to leave. And when Frankie wakes the next day she discovers Sadie has disappeared... taking a very expensive gift Jay bought for Becky with her.

The First Men In The Moon
Mark Gatiss takes the lead role as Edwardian scientist Professor Cavor in his own adaptation of HG Wells's science fiction classic, The First Men In The Moon.
It's July 1969 and as the world waits with bated breath for news of the Apollo 11 astronauts, a young boy meets 90-year-old Julius Bedford who tells an extraordinary story of two men's journey to the Moon, in 1909.
As a young man, Bedford chances to meet Professor Cavor, a somewhat unworldly scientist with an amazing invention called Cavorite. Anything to which it is applied becomes opaque to the force of gravity. Knowing a miracle when he sees one and with a keen eye on profit, Bedford encourages Cavor to think big. And so the two men construct a copper and cast-iron sphere which will fly them to the Moon. But what terrors await them in the lunar interior? And will they ever succeed in returning to Earth?
Mark Gatiss plays Professor Cavor and Rory Kinnear plays Julius Bedford. The cast also includes Alex Riddell as Jim, the inquisitive boy listening to Bedford's story. Jim's father is played by Peter Forbes and his mother played by Katherine Jakeways. Lee Ingleby plays Chessocks and Julia Deakin plays Mrs Fitt.
To coincide with the adaptation of Wells's thrilling science-fiction romance, ´óÏó´«Ã½ Archive is releasing a collection of national radio broadcast excerpts from the future-facing father of science. HG Wells On The Future provides a unique insight into the genius of the author and sometime broadcaster, revealing his prophetic sense of the changes technological advance would bring. A controversial classroom CCTV scheme spectacularly backfires when the cameras are turned on the teachers, in the penultimate episode of the current series of the drama set in a Rochdale comprehensive school.
Elsewhere, a familiar face comes to the aid of a desperate Grantly, and Janeece finally confronts Ruby with the truth.
When Chris launches a trial scheme to equip the classrooms with CCTV there is uproar among both staff and pupils. Jonah is outraged when he learns that the staff room doesn't have a camera and hatches a plan to expose the hypocrisy of the scheme, unwittingly stumbling upon Jess's and Chris's secret in the process. A violent clash in the corridors of Waterloo Road ensues, and Chris and Jonah attempt to cover up the truth in Karen's office.
Meanwhile, Grantly's personal crisis worsens as Fleur's mental health continues to decline, and a confidential chat with Ruby quickly becomes playground gossip. Later, Steph Haydock turns up to help and a stubborn Grantly is forced to make a heartbreaking decision.
Elsewhere, Janeece can't stand to see Ruby with her baby and summons the courage to ask for her back. When Ruby refuses, Janeece takes drastic action and the realisation dawns that perhaps Ruby can't keep the baby away from a mother who actually wants and loves her.

On 23 February 2002, Ingrid Betancourt, a presidential candidate in Colombia's elections, was kidnapped by the left-wing Farc rebel group along with her assistant and friend, Clara Rojas.
Ingrid is of dual nationality, having married a French diplomat, and swiftly became perhaps the world's most famous hostage, with presidents pleading for her release at the G8 and even the Pope asking for her release.
She was held for more than six years in the jungle, with only occasional news coming out, including a shocking picture which showed her clearly on the verge of collapse, if not death, in 2007.
Hostage In The Jungle – This World is the first documentary account of what happened in the jungle in her own words and of those who were there with her: Clara, her campaign manager, and Marc Gonsalves, one of three Americans who were also held by Farc for many years.
The film tells how Ingrid and Clara's friendship fell apart, with them ending up virtual enemies, and how Clara came to have a child with one of the Farc guards. The film explores the dynamics of captivity, including remarkable interviews with both the man who kidnapped Ingrid and her main camp commander. Interspersed with archive of her family and politicians fighting over how to deal with the problems, the film is a raw, first-hand account of how people cope with surviving 24 hours a day with fellow hostages. In Ingrid's words: "It is often more difficult to forgive your fellow hostages than the guards who keep you."
It is a story of continued escape attempts; the terrible retributions that Farc would take on such attempts; of hell in the jungle; and of extraordinary human suffering and endurance.
The film ends with the most daring rescue since operation Entebbe (a hostage-rescue mission in the Seventies). The Colombian military sent in 12 unarmed men and women pretending to be aid workers and lured the guerrillas into believing that they were transferring them on a humanitarian mission. The film includes extraordinary footage of the whole operation including footage from a Farc mobile phone, as well as accounts by those who are saved.

Observational documentary series Wonderland continues, seeking out the people and places that offer a glimpse of today's Britain that is usually hidden from view.
Nothing marks out a life that seems to be destined for wealth and privilege as sharply as the photographs that appear on the "Girls in Pearls" page of Country Life magazine. Here the nation's most blue-blooded young women have, for the last 100 years, announced their engagements, their comings of age and their life plans.
Arabella, who featured on the page in 1990, admits in the film: "I really enjoy all the stuff that the Women's Lib people fought against. I love baking, I like cooking, I care about curtains."
Brought up with the ambition of marrying someone with a stately home or a large country estate, many of these women discovered that the wedding ring was not so much the expected happy-ever-after ending as the beginning of a rollercoaster ride through modern married life. As the Dowager Duchess of Bedford, featured in 1960, puts it: "There is a price to pay for everything. There's no such thing as a free lunch."
This film follows the lives of five of the women who have appeared on the page over the last 50 years. From Kate Sackville-West, who grew up in Knole, one of the largest houses in the country, to Henrietta Tiarks, the Fifties It-girl who married a duke, Wonderland charts the highs, the lows and extraordinary reversals of fortune that followed the publication of their glamorous and pearl-decked engagement photos.

Andrew Graham-Dixon presents the latest edition of The Culture Show from Glasgow and features a profile of legendary artist and writer Alasdair Gray on the publication of his autopictography, A Life In Pictures.
The programme also previews two exhibitions of his work at the National Gallery of Modern Art and the Talbot Rice Gallery in Edinburgh. Gray has been cited as a major influence on writers, artists and musicians, from Iain Banks and Jonathan Coe to Belle And Sebastian. Anthony Burgess has called him "the most important Scottish writer since Walter Scott".
Miranda Sawyer meets British rap sensation Tinie Tempah, midway through his current tour of the UK, to discuss his latest album, Disc-ography. Having been a regular on the underground scene for several years, Tinie Tempah was catapulted into the mainstream this year when his first single, Pass Out, took the No. 1 spot and became one of the best-selling hits of the year. His eclectic mix of grime, pop, house, dubstep and rap has brought high-profile admirers with recent collaborators including Diddy and Damon Albarn.
The Culture Show checks out one of the most talked-about movies this year, The Kids Are All Right, which is screening at the London Film Festival next week prior to its UK release. The film stars Annette Bening and Julianne Moore as a married couple with two children conceived through artificial insemination. Now teenagers, the children decide to seek out their biological fathers.
This week's show also features new play Tribes by Nina Raines, an unconventional drama about the limits of communication for 18-year-old Billy, a deaf boy growing up in a hearing family. One of the Culture Show's very own directors, who grew up in similar circumstances, gives his verdict on the play.
Andrew Graham-Dixon visits Chichester Cathedral to see the magnificent Tudor Panel paintings by Lambert Barnard and to find out how the campaign to restore them is progressing.

The UCOS team are drawn into a serious criminal underworld when they reopen the investigation into a fatal fire at Ealing's Union Club in 1996, as the detective drama continues.
Originally ruled as accidental, new information from Dawn Abbott, one of the club's former employees, suggests that the fire was a targeted arson attack. But since Dawn is volunteering this information having just been arrested on a drugs offence, the team are suspicious of her motives.
Among those killed by the fire was Mark Johnson, well-known to Gerry Standing for running a shady family business. Dawn tells Sandra Pullman and Gerry that death threats had been made against Johnson just days before the fire. While the original investigation concluded that the spread and intensity of the blaze was caused by flammable materials left in a room by decorator Derek Ross, Dawn is certain the room had been cleared before the fire.
Mark's brother Karl is pleased the team are re-examining the case but would prefer that they leave the dispensing of justice to him. It is probably this knowledge that encourages all involved with the fire to keep their recollections to themselves, no matter how badly scarred by the event. Faced by a wall of silence, the team consider the case from a forensic perspective. When they take counsel from the original fire investigator, George Mackie, it triggers an explosive sequence of events.

Part of ´óÏó´«Ã½ Four's month-long celebration of the singer-songwriter, this series unlocks the ´óÏó´«Ã½ vaults to explore the burgeoning genre that exploded at the dawn of the Seventies, becoming one of the defining styles of the decade.
This hour-long programme sources material from ´óÏó´«Ã½ programmes such as the Old Grey Whistle Test, In Concert, Top Of The Pops, One In Ten and Cilla!
Each episode of Singer-Songwriters At The ´óÏó´«Ã½ is followed by a specially-created Songwriters Circle programme, in which three singer-songwriters perform their classic songs, while helping each other out musically with harmonies and the odd guitar part. ´óÏó´«Ã½ Four's season also offers a series of classic In Concert performances from the early Seventies, featuring James Taylor, Carole King, Neil Young and Cat Stevens, and more recent concerts by the likes of James Taylor, Carole King and Leonard Cohen.

A mix of great British and American singer-songwriters in the form of David Gray, KT Tunstall and Ray Lamontagne feature in the final episode of the series in which ´óÏó´«Ã½ Four combines great singer-songwriters for unique concerts celebrating their craft.
Each of these performers brings their own unique style to the session, which sees performances of David Gray's Babylon, KT Tunstall's Black Horse And The Cherry Tree and a very special version of Ray Lamontagne's Trouble.
As well as these great performances, filmed at Bush Hall on Uxbridge Road in west London, the artists reveal the stories behind the songs and the journey that a songwriter embarks on from melodies to lyrics.
The artists only meet an hour or two before going onstage and, in between performances, take the viewer inside their work, chatting about their songs, their history and background. Each performer plays their classic song in turn, while helping each other out musically with harmonies and the odd guitar part.
Songwriters' Circle is part of ´óÏó´«Ã½ Four's month-long celebration of the singer-songwriter. Other programming includes Singer-Songwriters At The ´óÏó´«Ã½, four hour-long episodes exploring a rich vein of ´óÏó´«Ã½ archive singer-songwriter performances, including Neil Diamond, Elton John and Billy Joel, broadcast alongside Songwriters' Circle on Friday evenings. In the Sixties a small indie label conquered American music. Having built its name initially with folk revival artists such as Judy Collins and Tom Paxton, signed out of Greenwich Village, Elektra Records progressed to signing some of the US's most influential artists including The Doors, Love, Tim Buckley, Incredible Sting Band and The Stooges.
Consistently on the cutting edge, Elektra Records was run by suave visionary Jac Holzman. This programme delves into the label, following Holzman's journey, telling his story and documenting his achievements along the way.
Directed by Ben Whalley, the programme includes contributions from Jackson Browne, Iggy Pop, Judy Collins and a choice ´óÏó´«Ã½ archive.
´óÏó´«Ã½ Four accompanies the documentary with various archive shows showcasing the best of Elektra Records; and ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 2 has a three-part documentary series about the label, presented by Paul Gambaccini, starting on Tuesday 5 October.
