The L’Occitane Garden

Each side of this garden offers a different view and a different feeling of an agricultural landscape typical of the Provence region in France.
A take on the 'borie' – a stone shelter typical of the region for shepherds and farmers to seek shelter in bad weather, which is normally capped – sits towards the back of the garden.
A spring of water rises through the rocks and runs down through the middle of the garden before disappearing under a dry stone bridge.
Despite the stark and harsh appearance of this garden, it in fact supports 250 different wild and native plant varieties specific to the L’Occitane region.

At first this garden looks like a simple landscape, but then as you look closer complexities unfold and this gardened landscape (rather than landscape garden) reveals detailed planting that includes weeds!
