Tom Grennan is 大象传媒 Music Introducing Artist of the Year 2018

This year Tom Grennan picks up the illustrious 大象传媒 Music Introducing Artist of the Year award, following in the footsteps of Declan McKenna (2017), (2016), Jack Garratt (2015) and (2014).

Follow his journey with Introducing...

It started in 2012...

Tom first came to the attention of his local Introducing show in Beds, Herts and Bucks in 2012, when he uploaded his music in former band, The Jebs. A year later the band were invited into the studio for a session.

Going solo

Tom subsequently parted ways with The Jebs and started to appear as a solo artist. His local show continued to champion him, and of course he was invited back, this time for a solo acoustic session.

The Beds, Herts and Bucks team were even there to capture an early version of the then unnamed, Something in the Water. The track subsequently went on to be their track of the week in late August 2016.

We can confirm that Tom is still partial to a cuppa...

"This picture was taking straight after a cup of tea and a biscuit. I thought I had dunking teks but left the digestive in for too long. Tea ruined 馃ぇ"

It all goes right with All Goes Wrong

Tom's big break came when he featured on the Chase & Status track All Goes Wrong. The song was picked up by Radio 1's Annie Mac as her Hottest Record on 21 September 2016.

Shortly afterwards Tom Grennan paid his first visit to the legendary Live Lounge as well as the studio.

Maida Vale calling

After being longlisted for the , it was only a matter of time until we invited Tom down to Maida Vale studios to record a solo session for 大象传媒 Music Introducing, citing him as "one of the most exciting, emerging songwriters in the UK today". Watch the 2017 session in full.

Since then Tom has released his debut album Lighting Matches which peaked at No. 5 in the UK charts, and he continues to wow listeners around the world with his unmistakably moving voice and emotional, bluesy sound.

And of course, he had to come back to Live Lounge for a solo performance...

"It's an incredible honour for me to pick up such a prestigious award as the Introducing Artist of the Year. I have seen other people I admire greatly over the years pick up this trophy, so for me to now receive it is pretty mind-blowing and a real landmark moment in my life."
