The Stiffs (in session for John Peel on 5th February 1980)
The band started playing together in the late 70s, as they played mostly covers.
The day after this session, they were invited to a meeting with EMI's A&R manager and were offered a record deal.

The Cortinas (in session for John Peel on 16th July 1977)
The band were based in Bristol, and around the time of this session, they were supporting artists including Blondie and The Stranglers.
The band became popular very quickly and attracted large crowds.
They only released one album in 1978, before splitting up a year later.
