Litir 695: 脕rainn Mh贸r

Bha mi ag innse dhuibh an t-seachdain sa chaidh mar a chunnaic mi 猫isg 鈥 garbhagan, rionnaich agus saoidheanan 鈥 a鈥 l矛onadh b脿gh air cladach 脕rainn Mh贸r ann an 脠irinn. Bha sinn a鈥 glacadh shaoidheanan gu le貌r. Bha a鈥 chlann agam air a dhol suas gu taigh bodaich airson faighneachd dhen bhodach an robh e ag iarraidh 鈥荣补辞颈诲丑别补苍补苍鈥 no 鈥荣补颈迟丑别鈥 no 鈥榗辞补濒蹿颈蝉丑鈥. Uill, cha do thuig e gin de na faclan sin. Agus th脿inig e leis an leathad don chladach.

听听听听听听听听听听听 Cha b鈥 urrainn dha fh猫in a sh霉ilean a chreidsinn. Bha an tachartas a cheart cho iongantach dh脿san 鈥檚 a bha e dhuinne.

Cha do thuig e na faclan saoidhean, saithe no coalfish. Mas math mo chuimhne, 鈥檚 e 驳濒铆辞蝉补苍 no rudeigin dhen t-se貌rsa an t-ainm a bh鈥 aige fh猫in air a leithid. Co-dhi霉, bha e toilichte na h-uidhir fhaighinn airson a reothadair. Bha cait aige agus ch貌rdadh na h-猫isg riuthasan cuideachd. Thug sinn na h-uidhir dha oir bha iad cho furasta a ghlacadh.

听听听听听听听听听听听 Nuair a th脿inig an dorchadas, bha na h-猫isg fhathast a鈥 leum anns a鈥 bh脿gh. An ath mhadainn, chuir e iongnadh m貌r orm. Bha iad fhathast ann. Bha a鈥 mhuir air tr脿ghadh is l矛onadh, agus bha na sgaothan 猫isg fhathast anns a鈥 bh脿gh. D猫 bha gan cumail ann? Tha amharas agam gun robh rudeigin ann aig beul a鈥 bh脿igh 鈥 leumadairean 鈥檚 d貌cha? No madadh-cuain? Chan fhaca mi dad, ach nuair a dh鈥檉h脿g sinn am b脿gh ann am meadhan na maidne, airson cumail a dol air ar turas 脠ireannach, bha na m矛ltean 猫isg fhathast ann.

听听听听听听听听听听听 D猫 thug orm a bhith a鈥 cuimhneachadh air 脕rainn Mh贸r? Seann charbad a chunnaic mi, oir tha na c脿raichean anns an eilean ann an droch staid (chan eil MOT riatanach aca)? Chan e. B脿t鈥-aiseig ChalMac, oir b鈥 e seann bh脿ta aig CalMac a bha a鈥 ruith thar a鈥 chaolais gu t矛r-m貌r na h-脠ireann? Chan e.

听听听听听听听听听听听 鈥橲 e na chuir an t-eilean nam chuimhne leabhar beag a th脿inig a-mach o chionn ghoirid a tha a鈥 comharrachadh e貌las na mara. Tha an leabhar, air a bheil D霉thchas na Mara, a鈥 toirt s霉il air d脿 eilean Gh脿idhealach 鈥 脕rainn Mh贸r ann an 脠irinn agus Barraigh ann an Alba. A r猫ir nan 霉ghdaran, Iain MacFhionghain agus Ruth N铆 Bhraon谩in, 鈥榮an d脿 eilean, tha iasgairean dhen bheachd gu bheil an teachd-an-t矛r is an d貌igh-beatha aca fo bhagairt aig buidhnean cumhdachdach nach eil a鈥 toirt cluas-ri-claisneachd dhaibh.鈥

听听听听听听听听听听听 Tha iad a鈥 m矛neachadh gur iad na 鈥榖uidhnean cumhachdach鈥 sin Dualchas N脿dair na h-Alba, a tha ag iarraidh d脿 脿rainn gleidheadh-mara ainmeachadh ann an uisgeachan Bharraigh, agus Riaghaltas Poblachd na h-脠ireann a chuir d脿il air iasgach le l矛n-siabaidh far chosta 脕rainn Mh贸r. Tha an leabhar a鈥 toirt s霉il air an 诲霉迟丑肠丑补蝉 co-cheangailte ri gach eilean, agus a鈥 cumail a-mach gu bheil sin a鈥 buntainn a cheart cho m貌r ris a鈥 mhuir 鈥檚 a tha e ris an t矛r.

听听听听听听听听听听听 Tha na h-eileanaich air a dhol gu l脿idir an aghaidh nam buidhnean riaghaltais, agus tha am beachdan agus an gi霉lan co-cheangailte gu m貌r ri 诲霉迟丑肠丑补蝉 鈥 facal nach gabh eadar-theangachadh gu furasta. Bheir sinn s霉il air 诲霉迟丑肠丑补蝉 an-ath-sheachdain.

Puing-ch脿nain na Litreach

gu bheil an teachd-an-t矛r is an d貌igh-beatha aca fo bhagairt aig buidhnean cumhdachdach nach eil a鈥 toirt cluas-ri-claisneachd dhaibh: that their livelihood and way of life is threatened by powerful institutions who are not listening to them. Cluas-ri-claisneachd means literally 鈥榓n ear to hearing鈥 (chaill e a chlaisneachd means 鈥榟e lost his hearing鈥 ie he has become deaf); it is pretty untranslatable word-for-word. The phrase is used a lot in idiom eg c霉m cluas ri claisneachd (keep an ear open, make sure you listen intently), bha a s霉ilean fosgailte agus a cluas ri claisneachd (her eyes and ears were open).

Gn脿thas-cainnt na Litreach

th脿inig e leis an leathad don chladach: he came downhill [with the slope] to the shore.
