Madrid after dark
The Maxwell Quartet and cellist Philip Higham perform Boccherini鈥檚 evocative sketches of Madrid at night and Taneyev鈥檚 deeply passionate String Quintet No 1 in G.
In this third programme from Radio 3鈥檚 Cello Festival in partnership with the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, the Maxwell Quartet and cellist Philip Higham perform Boccherini鈥檚 evocative sketches of Madrid at night. They close with Russian composer Sergei Taneyev鈥檚 deeply passionate and melodically rich string quintet, the first of two that he wrote.
