Dame Imogen Cooper, Cinderella at 75, and Diana Baroni, Ronald Martin Alonso & Rafael Guel Frias

Katie Derham is joined by pianist Imogen Cooper and by Diana Baroni's trio, and commemorates the 75th anniversary of Frederick Ashton's 'Cinderella'.

With her diverse musical influences, flautist Diana Baroni loves musical fusions, again with her latest album, 'Mujeres', for which she is joined by Ronald Martin Alonso at the viola da gamba and Rafael Guel Frias on the baroque guitar, and where she mixes baroque music with Latin American inspirations, to celebrate iconic historic or mythical female figures. The trio joins Katie Derham and performs live in the studio.

On December 1948, choreographer Frederick Ashton presented his new ballet that was to become an iconic piece in the history of British dance. 'Cinderella', on Prokofiev's score, opened at the Royal Opera House with Moira Shearer as the princess (and Ashton himself as a Stepsister). To celebrate its 75 years, the Royal Ballet presents a new production, with Tom Pye reimagining its design; he joins Katie Derham alongside former ballerina Wendy Ellis, who performed Cinderella and was Ashton's collaborator and friend, and principal dancer Yasmine Naghdi who portraits the main role today.

Recognised for her interpretation of the Romantic repertoire, Dame Imogen Cooper chose Beethoven, Liszt and Schubert for her new recital at Wigmore Hall (London). Composers who have a personal meaning to her, and played a part in her discovery of music and love for the piano, ever since her childhood when she was struck by Beethoven's music, played on the gramophone of the family's dining room. Tonight, the renowned pianist joins to Katie Derham and performs some pieces live.
