大象传媒 New Generation Artists celebration plus Tchaikovsky from Switzerland

Linton Stephens showcases the best performances by 大象传媒 orchestras, choirs, ensembles and other great performing groups from Europe and around the globe. This week on Classical Live, we celebrate 25 years of the 大象传媒 New Generation Artists scheme. Founded in 1999, the programme supports some of the world鈥檚 most exciting young instrumentalists, ensembles and singers at the start of their international careers, through performance and broadcast opportunities on Radio 3. Today, the Takacs String Quartet perform Haydn, pianist Elisabeth Brauss plays Schumann and violinist Lisa Batiashvili will play Brahms Violin Concerto in D for our centrepiece.
Plus, we will hear music from Switzerland, thanks to our partnership with the European Broadcasting Union. The Swiss Orchestra, conducted by Lena-Lisa W眉stend枚rfer, perform Tchaikovsky's Excerpts from 'Serenade in C, Op. 48' and the Basel Chamber Orchestra play Bart贸k's Divertimento.
