Two months after hatching, gentoo penguin chicks make their first trip into the sea. They have to be careful because predators hide in the shallows. With surface reflections preventing the penguins seeing what's lurking under the waves, killer whales are able to stalk the chicks by swimming just a little way out from the beach.
