Desert penguins
The Humboldt Current creates rich fishing grounds off the west coast of South America. But onshore there is little or no food - this is the barren Atacama Desert. To take advantage of the fishing, Humboldt penguins must make their nests in the desert. They do so in a narrow coastal strip, where the temperatures are kept a little lower by the Humboldt Current. Chicks beg for food from an adult.
