In 1979 Tom Herron had an injured hand but he was still determined to race at the North West 200. Fan, Ennis Cunningham, remembers talking to him about his injury just before Tom's tragic last race. Many of Tom's fans believe that Tom, who was in fifth position, actually thought he was fourth. He tried to pass all three at Juniper Hill, the final bend before the race's finishing line.
