Poland

Bill Oddie visits the unspoilt countryside of Poland in mid May. He sees many birds including the white stork.

Bill is in his element in Poland. In some parts of the Polish countryside it really is like going back in time. Peaceful villages, flower meadows, unspoilt forest, grazing marshes and tiny traditional farms. And in mid-May it is alive with birdlife. Bill visits a traditional farm where the farmer has put up a special platform for nesting storks. Local expert Marek Borkowski takes Bill on a quest to see the rare and elusive aquatic warbler. Next, Bill explores another part of the Biebrza Marshes, then moves eastwards to the Belarus border, to the legendary ancient forest of Bialowieza.
