Magazine cover design (pt 2/2)
An examination of the design of a 'J17' Cover. Opens with Emma Booth, production editor, explaining how they compose the text for the cover. Her explanation is intercut with shots of the cover revealing the tag lines. This moves on to an explanation of the types of language used, such as alliteration and double meaning. The areas of content are also highlighted: 'boys, fashion and beauty'. The designer is then shown explaining the layout of the cover. All the conventions are explained - title, use of model, cover lines and the gift. Late changes in the design layout are discussed as the original model is changed. Finally the sequence closes at the printers looking at the final print.
