Floods in Bangladesh
A report about the severe floods which occur in Bangladesh each year. Severe floods can have a devastating effect on a community and land can be lost and created by the floods. The silt washed up by the river provides a very fertile base for many crops to grow, which means Bangladesh doesn't have to rely on imported food. The land which is left behind after a flood is called char-land, with the people who build temporary houses on it known as char-land dwellers.
