A Viking festival on the Shetland Islands
Shetland Islanders celebrate the festival of 'Up Helly Aa' each year to commemorate their Viking ancestors. Islanders process through the streets at night, carrying flaming torches and a life-sized model of a Viking longship. At the end of the procession, the islanders hurl their torches on to the ship to burn it as a tribute to their ancestors.
