John Keats - 'On first looking into Chapman鈥檚 Homer' (audio)

Keats' poem describes the effect of first reading Chapman's translation of Homer and the effect that this had upon his understanding of the world within the texts. He describes the revelation of Chapman's free translation as equal to an astronomer who has discovered a new planet, or to Cortez's discovery of the New World.
