Agathon鈥檚 Speech (audio)
An extract of Agathon鈥檚 speech from Plato鈥檚 symposium. Agathon鈥檚 speech disapproves of earlier speeches where rather than concentrating on the character of Eros as a God they concentrate on the benefits bestowed by Eros. Agathon addresses Eros as the fairest and best in himself and other things, who gives peace on earth and is the most beautiful of the gods. Eros has qualities of honesty, control, courage, a leader and warrior.
