Festivals

Festivals
Throughout the whole of this month, we're bringing you the acts we chose to play at this year's Droitwich Music & Arts Festival.

It's a decade since this event began - and this year there's music on various stages throughout the town, in the shopping centres and at the Norbury Theatre.

In former years, this has also coincided with the Droitwich Water Festival.

This is the 10th anniversary of the event - and it

In Session

In Session
Done By Sunrise are a group of siblings! On boxing day 2011, they all got drunk and started to write a few songs.

For the last year-and-a-half, they've been touring around the open mic nights in Worcestershire.

But they also supported One Direction, Girls Aloud and Westlife at the LG Arena!

Meet The Musicians

Meet The Musicians

大象传媒 Introducing in Hereford & Worcester supports unsigned, undiscovered and under-the-radar musicians from our area.

Since 2011, we've been taking the show out on-the-road showcasing the very best musicians from our two counties.

Once a month, we've been recording acts chosen by us at a variety of venues across the area - including at some of our biggest festivals.

Our next recording session takes place next Sunday 28 July at Nozstock: The Hidden Valley at Rowden Paddocks near Bromyard and features the five acts we plan to broadcast throughout August.

Acts we've chosen to appear at the festival are Bekki Cameron (Much Dewchurch), Puffin Ethics (Hereford), Georgina Upton (Kidderminster), Scarlette (Redditch) and Goldman (Whitchurch nr Ross-on-Wye).

None of these acts knew they were being considered for a live session - they were chosen based on the tracks they uploaded - which led them to receiving airplay on 大象传媒 Hereford & Worcester.

Meanwhile, if you're a venue or promoter, and would like to be featured in a future recording session please
get in touch.

Nozstock

Nozstock
Now an established, leading family event in its 15th year, Nozstock is a sonic escape boasting eight main stages of entertainment with surprising sights and intimate, secluded areas of theatre and discovery to be unearthed.

This year DJ Yoda, Mr Scruff and Sonny Wharton will be on the garden stage.

We've sent our man Andy O'Hare along to sample the sights and sounds - and he'll be reporting back his findings from Rowden Paddocks on this week's show!

Blues Baby!

Blues Baby!
What would you do in this situation: You're a bass player in a local band, moments away from one of the biggest gigs of your life, when you get a call from your wife saying she's gone into labour?

This is the predicament Garret Felton from Bidford found himself in.

We'll hear from him on this week's show!

Reviews

Reviews
This week, Andy O'Hare reviews:
  • The Kitchen Island Band, Connie Gordon, Lee Myers, Rich Monk & Rob Murray-Mason @ The Morgan, Malvern.
  • Hindbrain & The Way @ Re-Con, Great Malvern.

Upton Festival preview

Upton Festival preview
This time next month, the organisers will be cleaning up after the Upton International Music Festival.

This year, there's two stages featuring big names like Slade, , Bad Manners, The Troggs, Bucks Fizz, Dr Feelgood, Chesney Hawkes and The Wurzels.

They've also got the X-Factor stars confirmed along with a selection of local talent.

It's on the riverside at Fish Meadow and offers camping facilities.

On The Record

On The Record
A Worcester filmmaker's series looking at music production in the county has proven to be so successful, he's launched a second series!

Jim Lowe's On The Record documents what life's like on the road for our local industry professionals.

This week, we hear from star of stage and screen - .

He's a man with half a head of long hair, the other half bald, half a beard - you get the picture...

He decided to be 'different' after being labelled that by bullies at school but has now made a very successful career from 'being alternative'.
