World War One soldier's surprise return after sinking
James in London recounted his grandfather's survival of a U-boat sinking in World War One, and eventual return home after his family had been notified he had died.
His grandfather was on his way home for leave when his ship was sunk by a U-boat he was picked up by a Japanese shop and taken to Egypt before being able to return home.
In the meantime the War Office had written to his family with the news that he was reported as killed in action.
