War Horse author: Children 'have to understand' WWI
The former Children's Laureate, Michael Morpurgo, says children "have to understand" WWI in order to deal with modern conflict.
Speaking 100 years after the start of the WWI, the War Horse author said teaching children about it would help them understand the "endemic" nature of war.
"It's particularly important they know about it as they see the modern equivalent on their televisions pretty well every day... Pictures of Gaza, pictures of Syria," he said.
