London teenager: ‘There's no way I can afford a house’
A teenager from South London who was asked to look at local house prices for 5 live says "there's no way I can afford a house in London."
5live sent Jonathan (16) and fellow sixth-form pupils Helen (18), Emily (17) to visit a local estate agent, with Helen concluding that the housing market was “concerning”.
"There's a semi-detached house going for half a million,” said Jonathan. “I think we need to ask ourselves how that's happened.”
5live Daily visited the marginal constituency of Eltham, South East London, as part of 5 live's 20 programmes from 20 seats that could decide the election.
