Mayweather Snr: I'd be dead if I hadn't used Floyd Jr as a human shield
Floyd Mayweather Sr, the father of world boxing champion Floyd Jr, says he would be dead if he hadn't used his baby son as a human shield to prevent him being shot in the head.
Speaking ahead of Mayweather's eagerly anticipated bout against Manny Pacquiao on 2 May, Floyd Sr has described an incident which led to him using an infant Floyd Jr as protection.
"If I hadn't had used my mind, I wouldn't be here today," Mayweather Sr said.
"She (my wife) was telling me to give up the baby. Who would be crazy enough to say 'here's the baby?' because he's my only shield."
"I got shot with him (Floyd Jr) in my hands. He shot a hole in my leg [...] That would have been in my head, in my chest."
