Promoter Kellie Maloney says her return to the world of boxing is "a personal challenge".

Formerly known as Frank Maloney, Kellie started the gender change process two years ago and underwent her final surgery at the end of March.

"I think it's a very personal journey now that I''ve decided to return," said Maloney. "It's something I have to prove to myself and prove to the others. It's a very macho male-dominated world that's locked in a time-warp."

"It's taken me a long time to make my mind up - after speaking with my family, with my councillor, with my lawyer. They say ‘there's still such a love and passion for it Kellie you should give it a try’ - and that's what I'm going to do," she added.
