A son filmed being berated by his mother during the Baltimore riots says he will "try to do better".

Michael Graham was masked and carrying a rock when his mother Toya arrived at the scene of the clashes and repeatedly slapped him for taking part.

鈥淭he first thing she said was 鈥榩ut that rock down鈥�,鈥� said Michael. 鈥淚 turned around like 鈥榦h, snap that鈥檚 my mother鈥� 鈥� I didn鈥檛 know what to do."

Toya said: "I shield Michael a lot from the street, I try to stop him from being harmed or being in danger so he understands why I reacted like I did.

"Sometimes that pushes him away from me because it's like I'm stopping him from being a child, I understand that but at the same time I don't want to lose my son," she added.

The protests have gone on daily since Freddie Gray died from injuries sustained in police custody.
