#MyFirstElection: As an apprentice
Craig Slater from Wigan is an apprentice from Alliance Learning and has been at Hovis for 8 months.
He decided not to take the traditional route to university because of the debts he might incur.
Instead he chose an apprenticeship as it's "a cost effective way of getting a career. I can earn money and learn at the same time."
Craig would like to see an increase in apprentice wages.
He feels a lot of people aren't choosing to do apprenticeships because the minimum wage is higher elsewhere.
