Iranian Embassy Siege: Hostage thanks SAS 35 years on
After a six-day stand-off in May 1980, the SAS launched a dramatic attack on the hostage-takers at the Iranian Embassy in London. Five Iranian gunmen were killed and one was arrested. Nineteen hostages were set free but one died and two were injured in the cross-fire. Chris Cramer was working for the ´óÏó´«Ã½ when he was taken hostage at the start of the siege inside the Iranian Embassy. He was released 24 hours after the incident started and 35 years on thanked the SAS for their role in ending the siege. Chris said "it's very difficult to comprehend the emotion of being held against your will". Chris Cramer was speaking with former SAS member Robin Horsfield and Malcolm Brabant who reported on the siege. This clip was used as part of 'I Was There' on 5 Live on Friday 1st May 2015
