Mark Lawrenson: Sterling is not good enough for England鈥檚 top four

Former Anfield favourite Mark Lawrenson says want away Liverpool midfielder Raheem Sterling is not good enough for England's top Premier League sides.

Having rejected a 拢100,000-a-week contract, Liverpool midfielder Raheem Sterling is expected to tell manager Brendan Rodgers that he wants to leave Anfield in the summer. Mark Lawrenson tells 5 live he believes the young player is being badly advised.

鈥淗e鈥檚 a young talented player, but he鈥檚 so badly advised鈥 said the former Liverpool defender.

鈥淭here were stories three months ago that he could play for Real Madrid, that he could play for Barcelona鈥. Absolute tosh, he鈥檚 a million miles away from that.鈥

鈥淚f you analyse where he will go and play away from Liverpool, you have to imagine that it will be Manchester United, Arsenal or Chelsea but he won鈥檛 get in their team!"

鈥淭his is a lad who needs to stay at Liverpool Football Club for at least two more years to improve every single facet of his game.鈥

Sterling won Liverpool's young player of the year award this evening and his current 拢35,000-a-week contract ends in 2017.
