5 live has been following the story of heart transplant patient Stephen Halsey, who received a life-saving operation at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

On the morning of the operation, Stephen was told by hospital transplant co-ordinator Laura Grocott that a donor organ was potentially available, and briefed him on what to expect.

Stephen, a father-of-two, said he 鈥渟till struggles鈥� with the 鈥渟ad鈥� concept of where the organ is coming from.

However wife, Denise, who was at the hospital with their two sons, said despite 鈥渆verything鈥�, husband Stephen was on "good form" before his surgery.
