Lizzie Armitstead: Crash 'could have been worse'

British cyclist, Lizzie Armitstead, said she feels "miserable", after a crash with a photographer at the finishing line in Aviva Women’s Tour of Britain, forced her out of the rest of the tour, where she was the favourite to win the race.

She had won the race in a sprint finish and had raised her arms in celebration before putting them back on the handlebars and veering left into a group of photographers.

However, Armitstead admitted the crash "could have been much worse" despite spraining her wrist and doing damage to her leg, but her first instinct was to "worry about the photographer" she had crashed in to.

Her father, John, had not heard about the crash until his daughter's manager rang him at work, and said watching the incident was "not good for the blood pressure".
