Flintoff backs England to win Ashes
The former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff believes the current side can win this summer's Ashes series against Australia.
Former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff has backed the current side to beat Australia in this summer's Ashes series.
Flintoff played key roles in England's series victories in 2005 and 2009 and believes the current side can come out on top this time around.
"Australia have a better record coming into this series, fine. But if you match up the two teams against each other, I think we are slightly stronger," he said.
"In the England side now we've got our best ever batsman in Cook, our best ever bowler in Anderson, we've got Joe Root, an all-rounder in Stokes and a spinner is probably the only area of concern.
"You look at Australia and there's nothing really I'd be too worried about. (Steve) Smith is a decent player but I think Anderson bowling in our conditions and swinging the ball is going to test that technique out."
"I do think Australia are the favourites but if I was a betting man, honestly, I would put my money on us."
